Set of six wall tiles with literary scenes, Iran, early 20th century
Rectangular ceramic tiles of various sizes, with polychrome moulded and painted decoration under a transparent glaze. One depicts a horseman hunting in front of a woman standing in a pavilion, another a couple in a landscape, the woman playing the târ, a third a horseman pointing his bow at a lion devouring a man, a fourth a horseman hunting a lion, a fifth a man on a throne, a goblet in his hand, a last two men sitting in a palanquin on the back of an elephant driven by a mahout. Metal frame on each tile.
