Two siyah mashq calligraphies from a single muraqqa album, Iran qâjâr, 19th century
Two calligraphic exercises in Persian nasta'liq, the text inscribed on paper in monumental characters in several oblique lines in black ink in reserves with gilded floral decoration standing out against a gilded background. One of these alternates right-side-up and upside-down lines. Mounted as album pages on card with a blue border and a red margin and probably completed with small calligraphic cartouches by another hand. On the back, stamp of the same owner named Ahmad ibn Isma'il.
