Description
EGYPT, Fouad I (1917-1936) Commemorative medal of the 14th International Navigation Congress in Cairo, S.E. Vernier, Paris, Monnaie de Paris, 1924 - 1926. Bronze medal showing on the obverse the portrait of Fouad I in bust, in profile, framed by two inscriptions in Thuluth Arabic "Fouad I King of Egypt" with the signature S.E. Vernier and the date 1924. On the back, a steamship at sea and feluccas on the Nile separated by a beaming lighthouse at the top. Bilingual Arabic-French inscription below a wreath: "Sous l'auguste patronage de S. M. Fouad Ier roi d'Egypte, 14ème congrès international de navigation, Le Caire, 1926". In its green percaline case with Fouad I's figures and lined with green velvet. Cornucopia mark and "BRONZE" from the Monnaie de Paris on the side. Diameter: 7.2 cm Minor wear to the case.
