Turkish silk prayer rug, Bursa, Kayseri or Panderma, Anatolia, Ottoman Turkey, second half of the 19th century Knotted stitch, decorated with a mihrab prayer niche supported by four columns, a mosque lamp suspended above foliage, flowers and cypresses. The background colour of the central field has been shaved to create a textured, sculpted effect. 183 x 132 cm Colours in fairly good condition. Wear at the bottom, velvet in good condition at the edges, more worn areas in the central field.
