Paris, Calmann-Lévy, 1885. 8vo, red half-maroquin with corners, decorated ribbed spine, ‘RR’ monogram at the foot, gilt head, untrimmed, covers preserved without the spine (M. Lortic.) First edition. Printed in a run of 126 copies. One of the 10 special copies on China paper, no. 7 (following the single copy on vellum). Two autograph letters signed by the author are included: - 7 pp., in-12, signed A. Dumas: an urgent and witty invitation to a friend to come and visit him at Puits, near Dieppe. - 1 p. monogrammed A.D.: concerning a brooch that had been found, ‘which proves that things are neither tidied away nor disturbed in my house. We shall continue with *Diane de Lys* for as long as you wish’. From the libraries of the Duchess of Camastra and Pauley, with bookplates. Faint foxing.
