Le Carrosse du Saint Sacrement.
Paris, Société du livre d’art, 1929. Large quarto, verdigris morocco, full cover decoration of interlacing gilt bands highlighted by black scrolls and wave patterns, plain spine and inner frame decorated in the same style, brown velvet endpapers and lining, double endpapers of marbled paper, gilt edges with gilt highlights, half-morocco slipcase with band and cover, edged slipcase (binding executed and gilt by E. Maylander after a design by J. Chadel).
A fine edition, printed using Louis Jou’s typefaces in his workshop in Paris, and illustrated with his own wood-engraved drawings.
Printed in a run of 150 copies. This is no. 120, for Mr Léon Givaudan.
This copy is enhanced with four original pencil drawings by Louis Jou, two of which are signed; the society’s menu featuring an original engraving by Louis Jou; and a sheet showing the design sketch for the binding’s decoration.
