Description
[Books] BRUE (Adrien-Hubert). Universal Atlas of Physical, Political, Ancient and Modern Geography, containing general and detailed maps of all parts of the world Second edition. Paris, published by the author, 1828. Folio, fawn half-calf with corner pieces, original title label glued to the front cover, plain spine (modern binding). 65 copper-engraved maps with coloured outlines. This copy bears on each map the circular dry stamp ‘Œuvres Encyprotype From the author’s collection’, accompanied by a printed statement attesting to the authenticity of the maps published by Brué after 1822. Included at the beginning of the volume are some 19th-century geographical notes on Orléans and the Carnute region, and at the end a large, fold-out road map of France by De Belleyme, 1820.
