Maurice MENARDEAU (1897–1977) ‘Lan Ha Bay in Haiphong’ Oil on canvas, 38 x 46 cm, signed lower right. c. 1920. An official painter for the navy, in which he served as an officer during the 1914–1918 war, he sailed the world’s oceans. He spent several long periods in Indochina during the 1920s and 1930s.
