XIAO LINZHAO (SIAO LING-CHO) – 1901–1966 ‘The Smoker’ Large coloured pencil drawing 56 x 39 cm (72 x 55 cm including frame), signed and dated (19)37 in the bottom right-hand corner. Bibliography: ‘The Feminine Talent of Chinese Women Artists in National and International Art Circles from 1900 to 1970’ by Ha Lin Sung. Toronto 2006: ‘She took part in exhibitions in Paris alongside ZAO WOU-KI, SANYU 常玉 and SIAO LING-CHO 蕭林召 (XIAO LINZHAO)’ pages 224 and 225. Exhibition: ‘Four Chinese Painters in France’ from 17 to 30 October 1948.
