Description
Small mouse-shaped dropper made of colourless glass.
18th century. (Minor chips).
H: 5 cm – L: 11.5 cm.
This mouse is made from blown glass, with the ears and legs shaped using glass-blowing tongs. Its sleek form, with its long, curved tail and tapered snout, lends itself particularly well to a practical purpose: a dropper. During the 17th and 18th centuries, the fashion for zoomorphic objects grew in popularity. This pharmaceutical item is used to dispense drops by applying pressure with a finger to one of the mouse’s openings. Its legs, positioned beneath its belly, provide stability.
