A very fine senior officer’s sword, reminiscent of Boutet’s design, with an openwork hilt adorned with a mascaron depicting an ancient figure and fleurons set within laurel wreaths, and separatedby tigellae; an oval pommel featuring the same fleurons set within laurel branches, with a chiselled branch terminating in a dolphin’s head; the shafte six mother-of-pearl inlays separated by gilded tigelles; triangular blade, gilded and blued in the lower third; leather scabbard with two gilded brass fittings; total length: 97.5 cm
