Infantry officer’s sabre, 1800-type model, with a ‘cote de melon’ pommel, oval guard, and a quadrilled fruitwood tang, slightly curved blade, engraved, blued and gilded to one-third of its length, marked on the heel ‘I.G.B.’; leather scabbard with three brass fittings, a chape and an intermediate fitting featuring a Type 1821 ring, original brass pommel engraved with line work; total length: 86 cm (split tang)
This sabre was modified in accordance with the 1821 regulations so that it could be worn from that date onwards
