Artilleryman’s sabre of the Royal Colonial Artillery, mod1784, guard entirely of brass, pommel in the shape of a lion’s head, the shaft covered in imitation fur; the guard is secured by three rivets, the tang of the blade is visible on each side; blade with a lenticular cross-section, heavily oxidised; leather scabbard with two brass fittings, the scabbard end cap not original (too narrow, as the leather has shrunk)
