A rare and beautiful court sword, with a sturdy guard of damascened steel gilded with gold, decorated with foliage on a blued background, the back of the guard raised at the rear, crossed by two inverted quillons and a small donkey’s foot, oval pommel, silver filigree tang; strong blade with a triangular cross-section, polished to a white finish; length 104 cm. (Without scabbard).
Probably Hispano-Moorish work, circa 1760. Very good condition.
