Sabre of the Imperial Guard of Honour of the City of Strasbourg:
Chiselled and gilded brass guard, five prongs and a scallop shell engraved, short oval pommel, leather-covered tang, filigree work; straight blade, flat back, point in line with the tang, two cross-guards, marked on the heel: ‘Manufacture de Klingenthal’ and ‘Coulaux Frères’, engraved, blued and gilded in the upper third with trophies, foliage, a crowned eagle and, within an oval cartouche, the inscription: ‘Imperial Guard of Honour of the City of Strasbourg’; leather scabbard with three gilt brass fittings cut in an accolade shape and decorated with fillets, iron tip cut in an accolade shape; length 102.5 cm. (A straw-like protrusion in a groove near the tip of the blade; gilding worn).
