Cavalry officer’s sabre, probably German, with a bronze hilt adorned with chiselled designs, foliage and trophies; the pommel is in the shape of a lion’s head; the tang is covered in grey filigree-patterned stingray skin; the crossguard is hallmarked and registered as “13.AF. 3.5.”; the blade is curved and mirror-polished, etched with a crowned monogram “WR” (William I); the reverse side is also adorned with trophies and a crowned eagle, the back marked “MEYERSBERG & STAMM SOLINGEN” ; blued steel scabbard with two bronze bands and a single ring; total length: 100.5 cm
