Senior officer’s sabre, circa 1845, luxury model, fully chiselled steel guard
decorated with oak and laurel foliage, openwork shell decorated on both sides, hallmarked on the underside ‘AP’ within a rectangle; blade in mirror-polished steel, flat over the first third then lozenge-shapedwith a wide flat section; it is etched with blue-tinted sections and a gilded background; at the heel, the coat of arms of Spain; it is marked“FAB A DE TOLEDO 1858”; the reverse side features the same design of foliage and coats of arms beneath a marquis’s crown; wooden scabbard covered in shagreen with three repoussé iron fittings adorned with oak and laurel leaves; total length: 120.5 cm
