Description
Badge of the Order of Cincinnatus, founded by George Washington on 13 May 1873; this society is still active. The badge is in vermeil, featuring a gilded eagle with white enamel, and bears the inscription in the centre: “Societas Cincinnatorum Instituta ad 1783 – Omnia Belinquit Servare Rempublicam”, the centre is enamelledin two sections; the eagle is surmounted by a laurel wreath to which the Belière ring is attached, with a sky-blue ribbon featuring white bands at the edges ; height: 51 mm; width: 31 mm; gross weight: 25 g Period: United States.
