Two oval ‘physionotrace’-style ‘églomis’ glasses: - One depicting the bust of an officer in profile, set within a gold and silver shield, surmounted by an urn bearing the monogram ‘M’; gilded guilloché brass border; blackened wooden rectangular frame; 69 x 52 mm; (some wear); First Empire period. Fairly good condition. - The other horizontal oval, depicting an officer’s bust within an oval gold medallion, set upon a trophy of arms, with a dove above; moulded wooden frame; 70 x 93 mm; (some minor wear); Revolutionary period, Consulate. Good condition. PROVENANCE for the second item: auction by Maîtres Binoche, Renaud, Giquello, 19 April 2010, lot no. 268. Michel Benoit Collection, Avignon Also included is a pewter medal with a bronze-like patina, bearing the profile of Bonaparte, First Consul, marked below“Battle of Marengo, 25 Prairial, Year VIII” after Andrieu, Year X; it is set in a guilloché brass frame (the bail is missing); diameter 80 mm
