Description
Naval officer’s dagger. Grooved ivory hilt (crack). Gilded bronze mountings. Oval pommel in the form of a stylised crown. Single-branch guard, hallmarked, with a ring adorned with a series of five balls and a flattened, flared quillon, curved towards the point. Curved blade, reinforced at the heel, with a flat back, a counter-edge and hollow edges. Leather scabbard, with two cut-out gilt brass fittings, decorated with line work. Pommel with a button and a ring. Usual markings. England. First Empire period.
