Description
# Light cavalry officer’s sabre in the chasseur style.
Leather-covered hilt with double copper filigree. Brass fittings, three-pronged guard, two shuttle-shaped pommels, one of which is engraved “H ⚜AUROY”. Curved blade with a flat back, made in Solingen, engraved, gilded and blued to one-third of its length (shows signs of wear).
Sheath made of sheet iron, with two domed brass bands. Iron tip.
Length: 101 cm.
A.B.E. Circa 1810–1820.
Rather than a name inscription, the engraving on the guard appears to read “HONOUR TO THE KING”.
