Description
A sturdy percussion pistol for target shooting or hunting. Heavy, round, rifled barrel with a damascene finish, of large calibre (approximately 12 mm), with a silver front sight. Engraved, cut-out breech block. Hammer and lock plate signed ‘LP Boitard à Saint Etienne’, with rounded bodies, finely engraved with foliage scrolls. Finger rest on the trigger guard. Iron fittings, cut and engraved in the same style. All screws guilloché-engraved. Carved, varnished walnut stock. Cap with stopper and screw ring for holding lead balls. Iron ramrod with brass ferrule. B.E. Circa 1855–1865
