Description
GERMANY 1933–1945 - An intriguing SCHIRMMUTZE belonging to a POLITISCHE LEITER of the NSDAP or a VETERAN’S KLAPPMUTZE?, made of beige ribbed cloth, featuring a large 1934-model party eagle in aluminium, metal cockade in the Reich colours, a thin black patent leather chin strap – probably a later addition – with small black lacquered buttons, a fine black leather peak, a yellow satin inner lining (shown signs of wear) and a mica diamond, a fawn-coloured leather sweatband; no guarantee; BE/TBE.
NB: This type of 1934-model headgear was worn until 1936, but the non-compliant cockade is likely to be of the ‘Politische Leiter’ type with a swastika in the centre.
