INFANTRY OFFICER’S SWORD, MODEL 1767–1775, French-style gilded brass hilt with a flat crossguard, no donkey’s head, wooden tang entirely inlaid with braided brass wire, an ovoid pommel in the shape of a vertically striated olive, a bivalve-shell-shaped guard, and a curved crossguard. Blade 72 cm long with a triangular cross-section and hollow edges, blued and engraved in gold over the first third; brown leather scabbard of later date with non-conforming gilded brass fittings, ABE/BE.
