OFFICER’S SWORD OF A MEMBER OF THE INSTITUTE OF EGYPT, with a gilded chiselled brass hilt featuring a flat crossguard decorated with a palmette and floral motif in the centre, mother-of-pearl plates, the front plate featuring the emblem of the Institute of Egypt in gilded, ornate brass, the side bands decorated with a Greek frieze, the ring and pommel adorned with palmette motifs; a curious model lacking a guard (probably removed). An 80 cm pricked blade with a triangular cross-section and hollow sides, blued and engraved in gold in the upper third with military symbols; without a scabbard; First Empire period, ABE.
