1821 MODEL INFANTRY OFFICER’S SABRE OF THE NATIONAL GUARD, 1830, with chiselled brass mountings bearing traces of gilding on one main and one secondary branch, decorated with foliage motifs, wooden hilt sheathed in sheepskin with filigree detailing in wire, a short-tailed cap, and a small curved quillon ending in a flower-shaped pommel. Slightly curved blade, 70 cm long, with hollows and fuller grooves in places, half-blued and engraved on one side with ‘GARDE NATIONALE ’ (difficult to read) and on the other with a design of military symbols; flat back marked ‘P. Knecht à Solingen’; black crackled leather scabbard with two brass fittings; dated to the July Monarchy period; ABE.
