Description
1821 MODEL INFANTRY OFFICER’S SABRE, CURRENTLY BELONGING TO A FIRE BRIGADIER, with a chiselled brass hilt retaining traces of gilding on one main and one secondary branch, decorated with foliage, wooden hilt sheathed in fine-grained grey galuchat with a filigree pattern of twisted brass wires, a short-tailed cap, and a small curved quillon ending in a flower-shaped pommel. A slightly curved blade measuring 76 cm, with hollow-ground sections in places, engraved on one side with ‘Presented by the Fire Brigade of St Lubin’ and on the other with ‘To Mr Delaigue, Captain of the Company’, round back marked ‘Klingenthal 1836’, cracked black leather scabbard with three brass fittings and two 1845-style suspension rings, probably added later, with a gold-coloured braided wrist strap and brown cord, dating from the July Monarchy period, ABE.
