Colt 1873 S.A.A. revolver, .38 Special calibre, as indicated by the marking on the left side of the barrel: “Colt Single Action Army .38 Special” (the weapon bears the serial number 188488, which dates its manufacture to 1899; however, as the .38 Special calibre was not introduced until 1902, the Home Security Code classifies this revolver as Category ‘B’). The revolver is nickel-plated and engraved with foliage scrolls; it has a 5 3/4-inch barrel.
