Smooth, conical barrel, fluted at the muzzle; bean-shaped lock signed across the rear in capital letters ‘Samuel à Saint-Jean’; swan-neck hammer; round iron pan, lock mechanism reinforced with a teardrop-shaped rib at the rear, lock spring secured from the inside; the lock mechanism has seen heavy use and has been resurfaced with a welded sheet of steel; simplified lock plate (no nut flange), guilloché internal part, gun fitted with iron parts, counter-plate with openwork scrolls, flat trigger guard, cap with two long struts and prominent rivets, fine smooth walnut stock extending to the muzzle (tiled joint), the wood inlay on the trigger plate, breech stock and fittings is highlighted by relief carving; mechanism in working order
