Description
A cleaned 13th/14th-century-style one-handed knight’s sword, with a blade 820 mm long and 45 mm wide, straight and symmetrical with a lenticular cross-section, featuring a shallow central groove starting at the crossguard and tapering towards the point. The tip is narrower and rounded; the steel retains its springiness, with a cleaned ‘orange peel’ finish. Cylindrical pommel, slightly domed and with a shallow, bowl-shaped recess in the centre, made of wrought iron. Straight, symmetrical guard with quillons tapering towards the tip (Type 1 guard according to the Oakeshott classification; see *Records of the Medieval Sword*). Flat, triangular tang; no taper; weight 1.050 kg. Ancient forgework, with no formal guarantee of a thousand-year-old origin. The sword’s balance point lies on the blade 100 mm beyond the guard.
