Description
A large percussion combat pistol converted from a flintlock pistol by ‘Reyne à Bayonne’, as evidenced by the barely legible marking on the lock frame. Octagonal barrel in 16-ball-per-pound calibre with 48 fine rifling grooves; the barrel still retains much of its aqua-blue finish and bears three oval recessed hallmarks. The weapon has an iron frame, a flat percussion hammer, and a lock body that still retains much of its tempered finish. The oval cap has two tiers separated by a concave groove running around the periphery. The iron barrel has a nail-head profile, held firmly in place by two barrel channels, one of which forms a hood. A fine mount with a very narrow angle, typical of the Empire period, featuring a fine tartan-style check pattern extending down to the muzzle. Mechanism in working order. (Condition 1-) Overall length 325 mm.
