A fine sergeant’s sword, 1767 model.
A sturdy blade with three hollow edges, retaining its original polish; the upper third features fine engravings of floral motifs framing a cartouche bearing an initial.
Bronzed iron mountings, a domed, two-part pommel, prominent rivet knobs, and a single, curved crossguard that joins the crossguard escutcheon at its centre.
The quillon is arched forwards; it has a functional double donkey’s foot; a symmetrical two-part pommel; a curved tang in ebony with a helical striated finish; two chequered ebony ferrules mark the ends of the tang; housed in its rare black leather scabbard with a wooden core, featuring a ringed iron pommel and a ringed iron ferrule, with a single terminal ferrule.
Beautiful flat wrist strap in red fabric trimmings with a dice-pattern design, featuring a pompom with silver fringe and red wool fringe interwoven.
