Description
A fine heavy cavalry sabre, Year IX model, revised in 1816. Straight blade with two fuller grooves and a central ridge. Flat back bearing the inscription ‘Manufacture royale du Klingenthal, October 1814’. The point is aligned with the central ridge (1816 modification). Cast bronze mount, with a short-tailed cap cut in an accolade shape. The main crossguard branch splits at the base into three arched strands joining the guard plate on the right. Wooden tang covered in shagreen and filigree-decorated. In its steel sheet scabbard with two bands. Weapon and scabbard numbered 653. With a white buff leather thong. Condition 1
