Large percussion combat pistol for officers, modelled on the 1833 pistol. Sturdy octagonal Damascus steel barrel, rifled with 48 hairline grooves, chambered for 16-ball calibre. Iron front sight and fixed rear sight mounted on the sighted breech block; the breech block also bears the weight supporting the flash hole. Rear lock plate marked ‘P. Boitard à Saint-Étienne’.
