A modified Remington 1858 New Model revolver adapted for centre-fire cartridges and rear loading, known as the Remington New Model Navy Conversion Revolver, with a 6-shot cylinder in .38 CF calibre.Modified cylinder, chambers with extractor grooves, loading door on the right, extractor rod on the right held captive by the ramrod, which now serves no other purpose.Two separate serial numbers beneath the flat of the barrel, concealed beneath the ramrod: “851” and “0107”. Very fine, intact rifling. Good remnants of nickel plating (50 per cent), imitation ivory grips (stained and aged resin). Mechanism in working order.
