Description
A pair of percussion pistols with a front-mounted lock. Belgian octagonal rifled barrels, calibre 36 balls per pound, with basket-handle rifling. The corners of the barrel’s sides are carved with longitudinal grooves; the flash hole is on a screw-mounted weight at the breech, with a trigger guard featuring a finger rest; the cap has four concave sides that follow the shape of the grooves on the grip. Renaissance-style mount, discreetly engraved with floral motifs. The iron band is probably a later addition. The stock of one of the pistols has been re-glued at the front of the trigger guard; there is a slight chip in the wood at the front of the trigger plate’s wood mounting on one of the pistols. Mechanisms in working order. Overall length: 340 mm. Condition 2
