Description
Austrian service rifle with a Mannlicher straight-pull breech, Model 1888, calibre 8 × 52 R, deactivated to the old standard (barrelled and pinned, with a welded breech block), manufactured at the Steyr Arsenal in Tonnerre (OE. W. G.). Side of the rear sight marked ‘L GASSER Wien’, serial number 9918G. Beautiful patina, breech polished to a white finish. (This weapon is classified as ‘D’ as it was manufactured before 1900; however, its deactivation means it remains in category ‘D’ and not ‘C9’, which would allow unrestricted sale to adults) Beautiful patina, fine varnished walnut stock. (Condition 1)
