1822-model cavalry sabre. Markings on the back of the blade: ‘Manufacture d’armes de Châtellerault – April 1879 – Model 1822’. A strong, curved blade 915mm long, with a flat back, two hollow edges and two double-sided blood grooves. The tang is covered in filigree leather, which is missing. Brass mountings; the pommel has a raised rim; the guard has one main branch and two curved secondary branches. The guard plate ends in a beak curved forwards. The steel sheet scabbard has a single fastening ring. (Condition 2+)
