MINIATURE – 19TH CENTURY 19th-century French school Portrait of a young woman in Renaissance costume Oval-shaped painted miniature depicting a young woman in a half-length portrait, wearing a large feathered hat and a dress with puffed sleeves and a large ruffled collar, highlighted in white. Medium undetermined – paper, vellum or ivory – as the miniature has not been removed from its frame. Set in an oval metal frame with openwork decoration featuring foliage and a shell motif; the border is adorned with an enamel frieze in turquoise and dark blue. Hanging loop. 19th century. Visible area: 5.8 × 4.8 cm. Overall dimensions: 9.6 × 6.1 cm. Signs of wear and minor imperfections to the frame; in a fair condition.
