IVORY MINIATURE – EARLY 19TH CENTURY Early 19th-century French school Portrait of a woman wearing earrings A round miniature painted on ivory, depicting a woman’s bust, viewed from the front, with brown hair styled in curls across her forehead; she is wearing earrings and a white dress with a square neckline beneath a reddish-brown shawl. Dark grey background. Set in a circular brass frame with an inner frieze of stylised palmettes. The reverse is closed by a metal plate secured with claws. One claw is damaged; the suspension ring is missing. First third of the 19th century, circa 1810–1830. Visible diameter: 5.3 cm. Total diameter: 7.1 cm. Signs of wear and oxidation on the frame; hanging ring missing. Displayed under glass.
