FRENCH SCHOOL, LATE 18TH CENTURY Portrait of a woman wearing a floral headscarf A round miniature painted on ivory depicting a woman’s bust, wearing a white headscarf decorated with small flowers, tied at the top of her head, with a hoop earring and dressed in a brown and white striped dress, a white headscarf crossed over her chest, against a dark background. Set in a circular brass frame with a fluted border and a beaded inner frieze. Hanging ring missing. Late 18th century, circa 1790–1800. Visible diameter: 4.8 cm. Total diameter: 6.8 cm. Dirt and dust under the glass; wear and oxidation on the frame. Hanging ring missing. Examined whilst framed.
