18TH-CENTURY FRENCH SCHOOL Portrait of a young woman Oval miniature, probably painted on ivory, depicting a young woman in a three-quarter-length bust portrait, with powdered hair pinned up and adorned with a small floral bow, two long curls falling over her shoulders. She is dressed in a light-coloured, low-necked dress against a grey-green background. Set in a gilded brass oval frame. Hanging ring missing. 18th century, circa 1760–1780. Visible dimensions: 4.3 × 3.5 cm. Overall dimensions: 4.9 × 4.1 cm. Signs of wear and oxidation on the frame; hanging loop missing. The miniature has been examined under glass and has not been removed from its frame.
