LATE 18TH-CENTURY FRENCH SCHOOL Young woman and her child A miniature depicting a young woman seated indoors, dressed in a white and pink dress, holding a sleeping child on her lap. She is leaning on a green cushion, in front of a green wall hanging. Set in an oval gilded brass frame. The back is closed with a wooden panel. The original hanging ring has been replaced. Late 18th century, circa 1780–1790. The miniature was examined whilst framed; the backing has not been checked. There is soiling and minor damage beneath the glass; the frame shows signs of wear and oxidation.
