FRENCH SCHOOL, LATE 18TH CENTURY Cherry Picking An oval miniature painted on ivory depicting a lively rural scene featuring three figures: a young man standing on a ladder picking cherries and handing them to two young women gathered at the foot of the tree. A small dog is seated in the foreground. The background features a wooded landscape. Set in an oval brass frame with a beaded border and a stylised frieze. Late 18th century. Visible dimensions: 9.5 × 7.1 cm. Overall dimensions: 11.1 × 8.7 cm. The miniature was examined whilst framed. Some soiling beneath the glass, and normal wear and oxidation on the frame.
