FRENCH SCHOOL, LATE 18TH CENTURY Portrait of a young woman with blue ribbons A round painted miniature depicting a young woman in a three-quarter-length bust portrait, with a profusion of curly hair adorned with blue ribbons and wearing a white dress, against a grey background. Support undetermined, as the miniature has not been removed from its frame. Set in a circular gilded brass frame with moulded and chiselled borders, surmounted by an openwork pediment decorated with knotted ribbons and small flowers. Hanging ring. Late 18th century. Visible diameter: 5.5 cm. Frame diameter: 7.3 cm (excluding the pediment). Signs of wear and oxidation on the frame; soiling under the glass. The miniature was examined whilst still in its frame.
