This star cluster is a universal astronomical phenomenon that crosses the southern hemisphere and heralds the start of the annual summer ceremonial season. In the Dreamtime, a group of seven emu sisters were chased across the night sky by an old man named Tjakamarra. This story, often told around a campfire, is universally known to the women of the western desert, but only the Nungurrayi and Nangala women are its keepers. MJ
