Gabriella Possum Nungurrayi (Anmatyerre/ Luritja) (born 1967) Le rêve des sept sœurs / Seven Sisters Dreaming 2026 Acrylic on linen signed and dated on the back 300 x 200 cm Provenance: > Commissioned by Brian Knight > Private collection Île-de-France Aboriginal Desert Art certificate of 2 February 2026 and 18 videos and numerous working photos Condition report : Not mounted on stretcher The constellation of the Pleiades is illustrated. This star cluster is a universal astronomical phenomenon that crosses the southern hemisphere and heralds the start of the annual summer ceremonial season. In the Dreamtime, a group of seven emu sisters were chased across the night sky by an old man named Tjakamarra. This story, often told around a campfire, is universally known to the women of the Western Desert, but only the Nungurrayi and Nangala women are its keepers. Gabriella is the eldest daughter of Australia's greatest Aboriginal artist Clifford Possum Tjapaljarri. She has a sister Michele who, like her, has taken up some of the family themes. Her brother Lionel, who was also a very talented artist, died a few years ago. Gabriella has an international reputation and is one of the few Australian Aboriginal artists to have travelled to Europe several times. This painting is of a very high quality and rare in such a large size with the whole process of creating the work with videos and photos of the artist painting.
