Kudditji Kngwarreye (Alyawarre) (circa 1928–2017) My Country / Mon Pays 2011 Acrylic on linen canvas, signed on the reverse and reference number KK111104--Z 60 x 77 cm Provenance: > Australian Aboriginal Art and Photography > Private collection, Île-de-France Accompanied by a certificate dated 4 November 2011 by Brian Knight Kudditji is the guardian of the emu dreamtime, which he typically depicts in the pure style of dot painting. He began depicting his region using blocks of colour in the early 2000s. He alternated between works depicting the emu dreamtime and representations of his homeland until 2003. Subsequently, given the demand for his works depicting his region using these blocks of colour, he developed this style, which brought him international recognition. Some have even dubbed him the ‘Australian Rothko’. He is the brother of the renowned artist Emily Kame.
