Description
Royal Copenhagen Set of 24 plates, Flora Danica design Made of porcelain with openwork rims and a botanical floral decoration, bearing the ‘Royal Copenhagen Denmark’ mark in green, and three waves in blue, as well as the Latin names of the plants on the reverse. D. 26 cm The Flora Danica porcelain service, created by the Royal Danish Porcelain Factory in the late 18th century, was inspired by a famous botanical atlas illustrating the flora of Denmark. Originally intended for Empress Catherine II of Russia, it was never presented to her due to her death. Each piece is hand-painted with great scientific precision, making Flora Danica a symbol of Danish craftsmanship and one of the most prestigious and sought-after porcelain services in the world.
