Description
Prince Hercules - Bikkuriman (ビックリマン) Based on Lotte Prince Yamato, Jack the Cane and the Angel of the Cross Hand-painted celluloid used in the production of the anime Executed in ink and gouache Original gouache background Produced by Toei Animation, 1987–1989, Japan H23 L26.2 Glued background Before becoming an animated series, Bikkuriman was a packet of chocolate wafers (Lotte, 1977) whose real value lay in the stickers hidden inside, to the extent that children are said to have thrown away the wafer just to keep the sticker. The series’ mythology pits angels against demons, and it is within this binary world that Prince Yamato, the series’ hero, crosses paths with Jack and the Angel of the Cross. A pop gem from the 1980s: the monster has literally become a collector’s item.
